As a gateway to Cook Forest, (one of PA's most visited parks), and Clear Creek State Park, Brookville, in Jefferson County, is surrounded by some of the loveliest laurel fields in the state.

Cook Forest is classified as a National Natural Landmark by the National Park Service. The 7,182-acre Cook Forest State Park lies in scenic northwestern Pennsylvania. Once called "The Black Forest," the area is famous for its stands of old growth forest. The "Forest Cathedral" of towering white pines and hemlocks is a Natural National Landmark. The Clarion River is the eastern border of the Park, and is popular for canoeing and rafting.

If you've never visited beautiful Western Pennsylvania, you're missing out on a wonderful experience! People from all over the world travel to Cook Forest, which is near the Allegheny National Forest, to experience breathtaking nature scenery, catch glimpses of the wildlife, hunt and fish, float down the river on canoes, cross-country ski, and spend time with friends and family.

Another charming turn-of-the-century town is Punxsutawney. Beautiful tree-lined Mahoning Street features "Millionaire's Row", preserved from the days when Punxsutawney was a thriving coal, oil, and lumber town. World renowned weather prognosticator Punxsutawney Phil makes his home here in the children's library of the Mahoning East Civic Center, downtown.

The region offer dozens of craft and specialty shops, nationally-ranked country inns, log cabins, bed & breakfasts, national chain lodging facilities and a boundless variety of cultural and special annual events.
